How to Use These Calculators

Each legal calculator on this page walks you through the same core inputs that attorneys use to build a settlement demand. Here is what to expect when you open any tool:

  1. Enter your economic damages. This includes all medical bills — past and estimated future — plus lost wages from missed work and any loss of earning capacity if your injury is long-term or permanent.
  2. Specify your non-economic damages. Pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life are calculated using a multiplier (typically 1.5× to 5×) applied to your economic losses. More severe or permanent injuries carry a higher multiplier.
  3. Adjust for liability and fault. If you were partly at fault, most states reduce your award proportionally. A few states bar recovery entirely if you were more than 50% at fault. The calculator applies your state's comparative or contributory fault rule.
  4. Review the output range. Results display a low, mid, and high estimate — not a single number. Real settlements depend on the defendant's insurance limits, the strength of evidence, and negotiation. Use the midpoint as a planning anchor.
  5. Consult an attorney before acting. These tools produce educational estimates only. A licensed personal injury attorney in your state can evaluate the specific facts of your case and advise you on whether to accept a settlement offer.
Educational use only — not legal advice. These calculators are provided for informational purposes and do not constitute legal, tax, or financial advice. Settlement values depend on evidence quality, jurisdiction, jury tendencies, insurance policy limits, and many other factors that an online tool cannot evaluate. No attorney-client relationship is formed by using this site. Always consult a licensed attorney in your state before making decisions about a legal claim.
